AutoAutoHarpHarpsichord

The AutoAutoHarpHarpsichord (AAHH) is a long running project to make an automated string instrument. Originally the design was meant to replicate a guitar, or harpsichord, with plucked notes, but it moved towards a more percussive tone using solenoids to strike the strings. It uses a modular, ‘infinitely expandable,’ design, where each set of six strings is given it’s own DMX channel. Sound is recorded through acoustic guitar microphones.
